Blacksmithing for Beginners (Youth)

19 October 2019 @ 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm MST

$200
blacksmithing for beginners

Suitable for students aged 13-15. Learn the essentials of smithing under close supervision in a small group. Get an introduction to the safety, tools and techniques of this ancient art. Leave the shop confident in your abilities, and holding your first forged steel creation.

Students will become familiar with the very fundamentals of blacksmithing — steel, hammer, tongs, forge and anvil — and learn a few basic techniques for shaping metal, such as tapering, scrolling and twisting.

If you’ve never tried blacksmithing, but were always curious, this is for you!

Full course details and important information about clothing, safety, hydration etc. will be sent to students two weeks before the course.

Instructor: Liz Cameron
