This is a rare opportunity for students learn the process of making mokume-gane from raw materials (copper and nickel-silver) to finished billet, which includes proper cleaning instruction, firing and billet diffusion instruction, postdiffusion processing (lots of hammering), and discussion of the pattern-development stage. Students learn to use all the tools required and discover the many finishing options for completed work.
