Get an introduction to the history, safety, tools and techniques of blacksmithing. Under close supervision, youth students in this skills-based summer camp learn how to use hammer, tongs, forge and anvil to create a functional or decorative steel piece.
Each day will focus on a different technique, and students will
use that technique to forge a metal artwork each day, such as nails, hooks and
even a coiled snake!
A responsible adult must be present at the start of the course to sign the youth smiths in, and we ask that drop-off and pick-up times be adhered to. Please drop off no earlier than 7:45 a.m. and pick up no later than 12:15 p.m. (A fee of $75 will be levied for every hour or part thereof that drop-offs/pick-ups occur outside of the 7:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m time frame).
Full course details and important information about clothing, safety, hydration, snacks etc. will be sent to parents/guardians two weeks before the course.
