Noon to 3 p.m.
Course fee: $125
Students work on the raw steel extracted from the tatara, and reduce it to a workable piece of steel for their next project, typically a blade. The word tama means “round and precious,” like a gem. The word hagane means “steel.” Small wonder, them, that this delicate metal flower needs great care to render it into steel that is workable. The carbon content of the resultant steel is expected to be 0.5-0.7 percent.
Full course details and important information about clothing, PPE and health & safety will be sent to students before the course.
